Phlebotomy personnel can collect blood samples for the purposes of research, testing, donations, or transfusions by using venipuncture, which is the process of making an incision in the vein to draw blood. A phlebotomist works under the supervision of a medical laboratory scientist. Students will complete 8 weeks of in-class instruction, then complete 100 clinical hours in a healthcare facility.
Class Pre-Requisites Due:
Background Check (Contact EMCC Staff to schedule), Proof of COVID Vaccine due two weeks prior to Clinicals, Drug Screen due two weeks prior to class start date, Proof of Flu Shot required two weeks prior to class start date and must be dated no earlier than 45 days prior to first day of class, Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccine due two weeks prior to class start date, Copy of Immunization Record due two weeks prior to class start date, Physical Exam due two weeks prior to class start date, TB Skin Test due two weeks prior to class start date and must be dated no earlier than 45 days prior to first day of class.
