The Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) program prepares the individual to assist in providing health care as a member of a health care team under the direction of a health care professional. After successful completion of course and Certification Exam, graduates may qualify for employment as Homemakers, Nurse Assistants, Long-Term Care Aides, or Home Health Aides in the Mississippi health care industry.
The CNA course provides intimate, hands-on healthcare to patients in healthcare facilities and home health, helping with bathing, dressing and the basic activities of life. A day in the life of a CNA might also include turning or repositioning bedridden patients, taking patients' temperature, blood pressure and other vital signs, answering patient calls, documenting patients' health issues, reporting to nurses, feeding patients, measuring and recording their food and liquid intake, cleaning rooms and bed linens, helping with medical procedures, and dressing wounds.
Potential students must have satisfactory completed a background check, Hepatitis B vaccine, TB Skin test, immunization record and drug screen before the start of class. **
All students are enrolled provisionally, pending completion of medical requirements and a clear criminal background check.**
